NJSP NorthSTAR | Honors Vietnam War Combat UH-1 Huey Helicopter Pilots and Combat Medics.

The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit landed the AW-139 Medevac NorthSTAR helicopter during a military vehicle show held at the Sussex County Fair Grounds in Augusta, New Jersey. The NorthSTAR logistics and landing zone were coordinated by M38A1 Jeep United States. www.M38A1Jeep.us

The New Jersey State Police Medevac AW-139 Helicopter, NorthSTAR  landed at the Sussex County Fairgrounds next to a vehicle display area to honor the Vietnam War Huey UH-1 helicopter. Tours were given to see AW-139 NorthSTAR and meet the Pilots and Flight Crew.

Huey UH-1 medevac and combat helicopters served during the Vietnam War. 7,013 were deployed and 3,305 were destroyed. In total, 1,074 Huey Pilots were killed, along with 1,103 flight crews with combat medics. According to U.S. Army Veteran Combat Medic Frank Shane, who coordinated the NJSP AW-139 landing, “In the during the Vietnam War, the pulsating sound of in-coming Huey chopper rotor blades let ground soldiers know that rescue and medical care was approaching to save the wounded soldiers.”

After talking with a New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR pilot, Shane said, “Uniformed services like some of the New Jersey State Police are military veterans.” The Frankford Volunteer Fire Department will be providing fire, safety and landing zone assistance.
